Speaker: Marques Allen, P.E. – HDR

Marques Allen, P.E. is a Senior ITS Engineer for HDR, Inc. in Dallas and has been in the industry for 10 years. His career started with TxDOT under their engineering rotation program where he gained experience with roadway construction and traffic design (ITS, illumination, and traffic signals), and then went to work for Kapsch TrafficCom as a systems engineer where he received invaluable field experience with ITS and Tolling. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University. He is actively involved with DFW Professionals Chapter of National Society of Black Engineers as the Telecommunications chair.

Speaker: Tyler Wacker – Kimley-Horn & Associates

Tyler Wacker is a project analyst with three years of experience providing traffic modeling, traffic operation analysis, and design services. He has successfully produced two-way conversion feasibility studies, private development traffic impact analyses, and bicycle facility conceptual design. Tyler has experience in helping private developers, municipalities, and public improvement districts with traffic operation studies and bicycle concept planning. He has completed the McKinney and Cole Avenue Two-Way Conversion and Knox Street Comprehensive Studies and the Union Trail Bicycle Connection between Katy Trail and Klyde Warren Park.

Doug JonesDoug Jones is the Managing Director of the design build program for Texas Central Partners.  He has been in the construction industry 40 years.  Prior to joining Texas Central Partners he retired from Balfour Beatty Construction after a 34 year career.  During this career, he began in project management progressing to positions of increasing responsibility.  Doug was most recently the CEO of the Balfour Beatty’s Central Region, comprised of Texas and the surrounding states.

Doug holds a B.A. in Construction Management from the University of Florida.  He has served on various boards, most recently Downtown Dallas, Inc.  He is also a founding member and past chair of the Construction Industry Outreach Advisory Council, an organization which promotes diversity in the construction industry.

2016-2017 TexITE Dallas Scholarship

The Greater Dallas Section of ITE is an organization dedicated to transportation engineering in the Greater Dallas Area. The Dallas Section is part of the Texas District of ITE, known as TexITE. The Greater Dallas Section is pleased to announce 2016 scholarship eligibility requirements and deadlines. You can download current application form here. For additional information click here.

Deadline: Postmarked no later than Wednesday, July 27th, 2016

Scholarship Awards: One or more (non-renewable) scholarships for one academic year. Minimum award amount of $1,000 per winner. Higher amounts may be awarded at the discretion of the Board based on funding availability.

Degree Program: Registered as a full-time student in an undergraduate (Sophomore/Junior/Senior level) or postgraduate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) program at an accredited university. Preference will be given to applicants enrolled in at least one Traffic/Transportation Engineering-related class.

Speaker: Mike McNair – Automation and Intelligent Systems Division Head at The University of Texas at Arlington Research Institute (UTARI)

McNair - HeadshotMike McNair joined the Research Institute in October 2013 overseeing the research in Unmanned Systems and Social/Assistive Robotic Technologies. He has a successful career in the development and management of research and engineering endeavors, working for several defense contract companies before moving into academia at UTARI.  He is engaged in AUVSI events, having presented at prior conferences and actively participates in his local chapter. His current work includes business planning, collaboration and partnering, proposal development, and project oversight in unmanned systems, intelligent systems, and assistive technology domain areas. Mike has a B.S. in Physics from Texas A&M University, an M.S. in Systems Engineering from The George Washington University and holds a current Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.
